The short version
- We collect the minimum we need to make the app work for you.

- We don't train AI models on your moments, nudges, or kids' names.
- Your nudges and preferences are parent-private — never visible to a partner.
- You can export or delete everything, any time, without writing in.
Who we are
HeyFamily is operated by Aurenia Group. When this policy says “we” or “us”, that's who's on the other side. If you need to reach the person responsible for privacy, write to privacy@aureniagroup.com.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account basics. Email address, name (or what you'd like to be called), and the voice you pick at onboarding (HeyDad or HeyMom).
- About your kids. First name, age or date of birth, a few interest tags. Nothing else is required. You can use a nickname if you'd rather.
- Your preferences. Nudge timing, quiet hours, the kinds of activities you've saved or skipped.
- Your moments. The notes you write in the journal. These are yours, kept on your device by default and synced to your account only if you enable backup.
Information we collect automatically
- Basic device info. Type of device, operating system, app version — used to fix bugs and make the app work properly on your phone.
- Crash reports. When something breaks, we collect what went wrong so we can fix it. These reports don't contain your moments, nudges, or kids' names.
- Anonymous usage signals. Which screens are opened, how often. Aggregated, never tied to you individually, used to know which features are actually useful.
What we don't collect
- Your contacts, photos, location, or microphone — unless you specifically share something with the app.
- Your browsing history outside HeyFamily.
- Anything that would let an advertiser identify you.
How we use it
- To run the app — sync your data across devices, deliver nudges, save your moments.
- To make the app better — fix bugs, improve features, write new activities.
- To talk to you — answer your emails, send the occasional update if you opt in.

What we never do
- Sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
- Use your moments, nudges, or kids' names to train AI models.
- Show your nudges or preferences to a linked partner. Those are parent-private at the database level.
- Track you across other apps or websites.
How we keep it safe
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest is encrypted on our servers. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to do their jobs, and we log it.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a breach that affects you, we'll tell you directly — promptly, plainly, and with the steps you can take.
Where it lives
Our servers are based in the United States. If you're using HeyFamily from elsewhere, your data will be transferred there to be processed. We rely on standard contractual clauses and equivalent protections where required.
How long we keep it
- Your account data: until you delete it.
- Crash reports and anonymous usage signals: 13 months, then aggregated or discarded.
- Backups: rotated out within 90 days.
Your rights
Regardless of where you live, you can:
- See everything we have about you.
- Export it as a single archive.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete it — completely, with no “account recovery” loophole.
You can do most of this from Settings in the app. See the data export page for step-by-step instructions, or write to privacy@aureniagroup.com and we'll do it for you within 30 days.
Children
HeyFamily is a tool for parents. It is not intended for direct use by children under 13 (or 16 in some jurisdictions). Children are mentioned in the app only by the parent — their names, ages, and interests — and that information is treated as parental data under this policy.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has signed up for an account, write to privacy@aureniagroup.com and we'll close it and delete the data.
Cookies and tracking on this website
heyfamily.app uses no third-party advertising, analytics, or social pixels. The site sets no tracking cookies. (We may add a privacy-friendly analytics tool later — if we do, we'll list it here and it won't track you across sites.)
Changes to this policy
When we change anything material, we'll update the “last updated” date above and tell you in the app and by email if you have an account. We won't quietly broaden what we collect or what we do with it.
